DIY 1970 Mirror
When I got my car it was missing the passanger mirror. Have been looking at used and repro and hate the cost, SO I made one from Fiberglass with an allum. base. I don't recommend this by the way spend the $. Attached are the molds I used to lay-up the parts and the base. The base was a trick, I only had the drivers mirror to go from using the top and bottom as a form for the mold.

Cool project. The originals are big bucks as is the amt of work to prep for paint & mount. I just had a pair installed on my car.
Just as an fyi, the passenger side clamshell housing is a little bit bigger than the driver's side.

Funny things happen when you have more time then money. I will post more pics tomorrow. Went to the upickit today and got the bracked to hold the mirror and hope to prime tonight.
Thanks.

Pretty cool.
Nice work.
I have more time than money too, I'm going to whittle me a pair of mirrors out of a hunk of real wood to match my fake woodgrain.
That's old school though... I'll use a chain saw and a belt sander.

Got the mirror mounted on the car last night, what a PIA to get to the bolts. Having the glass cut today and I'll post some pics.
Looks good for what it is. I don't think anyone would notice it is fiberglass and home made.
What to make next?
