Can this even be done?

I have a 1969 Cutlass rear bumper, Excellent for rechrome... I have the two cutouts from a 442 bumper. Can these be welded into my existing bumper, ground smoooth and rechromed to have a 69 442 bumper? There are no reproduction 69 bumpers out there! Any advice will be very helpful. Thanks in advance

If you have somebody who's good at welding I don't see why this couldn't be done. The bumper brackets have a tab for the exhaust pipe hangers, but those too could be added by someone with good skills. John

Of course this can be done. To do it right, you need to have both bumpers chemically stripped of chrome first.

Thanks for the info Joe and 2blu442. My 69 cutlass bumper is very near perfect and the cutouts have been cut out of a 442 bumper. They measure about 6w X 4h. Sorry i was confusing. Still be done? Thanks

Can be done yes. Cost more than a real 442 bumper to make a repair that can't be seen? Yes

You can't find "Real ones". No reproductions made starts 1970 and up. Not near the thickness and quailty.
