Can I find the build date from the vin? Unfortunately the decal was long gone on the car and i want to get a new one thanks

 

No, but you can check your cowl tag for the build month/week and get you a new door decal with the right month/year of production. For example, if your 1970 442 was built with an 04D scheduled build week, then you put 04/70 on your door jamb decal and you're good to go.

 

About all you can get from the VIN is the sequential production derivative (last six places), which may give a clue as to date by telling you where in the production run your car fits in.
