Will a 1970 442 use the battery at all, when the car is off? Thanks.

 

If you have a dash clock, yes, but the draw will be negligible. However, if your battery is dumping at at an abnormal rate, then you have a parasitic draw somewhere.

 

In STOCK form, the optional clock is the only draw, as noted. If you have aftermarket stuff (stereo, USB power ports for your phone, etc) then all bets are off. That should STILL be a miniscule draw, but any aftermarket additions are suspect. How about you tell us more, like exactly what is different from how it left the factory?

 

The battery over time will lose its charge naturally also.

 

Also be sure that your car has enough run time to keep the battery charged. Really needs to be more than just idling. I end up putting mine on a charger every once in a while, since I just don/t drive it enough.

 

Car is completely stock, and the clock currently does not work, so I guess there is no draw.

The car is driven in a rotation with several other cars, so it does sit for extended periods. Thanks to all for the info.

 

I keep most of my vehicles on a trickle charger, with quick-connects so that I can unplug and go with ease.

 

then you need to get out and drive it more! Enjoy that thang...
