Alternator Part Number - '70 W-30

I was wondering if anyone knows the correct part number for the alternator for a '70 W-30, early Oct '69 build. no ac, 4 speed. I believe it should be an open face 37 amp unit. please advise. thanks

37 amp model 10si 1100880 w/o a/c, rr wdo defog, or hd alternator
55 amp model 10si 1100890 w/ a/c, rr wdo defog, or hd alternator

both of these are internally regulated alternators.

Alternator ID for 70 cutlass SX 455 with a/c

Bill,

Is there a website or public source for looking up the correct alternator #s?

I ask because I believe the one on my 70 Cutlass SX 455 Convt (with A/c) was changed at one time in it's life. it has a 1100791 55A 12V that is dated 7C21. From everything that I've read, that date translates to March 21, 1967 which would be way to old for my car. Everything on my car dates from July-August of 1969.

I'd like to know what the alternator I have originally went to (so that I can sell it) and what the correct alternator should be for my car (so I can buy it).

Thanks,

Dan

there may be an internet resource, idk, i got my info from the delco 1.2 manual.

1100791 is a 10DN type 33 amp cold output @2000 rpm(approx.) and 53 amps @ 5000 rpm(approx.) ratings are alternator shaft rpm. rated hot output is 55 amps @maximum operating speed(rpm not specified).

i'll see if i can dig up the application for the alternator you have.

Thanks Bill. I'm looking forward to finding out if the application is correct for my Olds.

Bill's numbers, etc are what you need. Both are open face (6 spoke NOT 5 spoke like some other open face alternators) and also used a back half with some raised fins to act as a heat sink and it's a different back half than the '69 cars' back halfs with fins...slightly different arrangement/placement of fins and one bolt boss I believe.

Be careful....there's been some pretty crappy looking fakes (front halves with numbers stamped) out there and a couple folks here got "stung" by them.
