-Duplicolor Chrysler Industrial Red Engine Enamal Paint: code 1632
-PPG poppy red. Not sure on the code anymore.
-I used the duplicolor product on my 64 442 air cleaner and it matched well with the original color on the base (the base was not faded, so it gave the best comparison). Can find at most local part stores.

The true color might be a little deeper red, but your AC looks really good. Basically the same color as the Duplicolor 1632 engine paint. To help painterbrad, what brand and code paint did you use?

That looks a tiny bit too red, and not quite orange enough, but between the variations of cameras and screens, it may actually be perfect for all I know.
Fusick has the exact right color. I know because the inside of my latest air cleaner was perfect, so after I painted the outside, I was able to hold the pieces next to each other, and there was no visible difference between the two.

The red I used is called Bengal Red. It's a primary color and is very close to Coca-Cola Red and the red used by Snap On for thier tool boxes. IMO I think you'd need a paint chip to actually see a difference. As far as what is correct for the Olds Air Cleaners, I have no idea. I'd recommend Fusik for exact colors.

Arise dead thread, resurrection!
I plan to paint my '68 442 air cleaner this weekend. Apparently, the consensus is that Ford Poppy Red is indeed a very close if not identical match to the original Olds color. I'll be using PPG Omni (Single stage activated urethane) over an MP170 catalyzed epoxy primer. The PPG code for Poppy Red is 60449 and current pricing is about $38 per pint (enough to spray 2-3 air cleaners). http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/paintdetail.cgi?ppg=60449
Anyone else try this color?

Air Cleaner Paint Color
I also used the -Duplicolor Chrysler Industrial Red Engine Enamel Paint: code 1632 on an air cleaner for my 64 Cutlass. I had an old can of the air cleaner paint from Super Cars Unlimited that I used on a 69 442. I was very surprised by how close they were. Here is a photo of the one on the 64:

Ok guys. Here is PPG 60449, Ford Poppy Red as shot on my 1968 code OG air cleaner. The picture was taken outside in an overcast condition, so should be fairly true to color. Does the shade look about right to you?
Here is Randy's '68 air cleaner in the original 48 year old (at the time of post) paint for comparison:
