Does any one know if you use the same hood hinges for a 72 all steel hood and a oem fiberglass/steel combination hood. The parts place sent me the ones
that are for the aftermarket fiberglass only hood.

My 70 used the same hinges and springs. The factory combo hood is not a light weight hood like an aftermarket straight fiberglass would be.
it’s still heavy.

I thought the aftermarket used the same hinge, but lighter springs. No expert though, hopefully a 72 owner will chime in.


what I have seen a lot of are aftermarket hoods using factory springs, when the hood is closed, there is a bulge/bow along the sides because it’s too much pressure. They don’t fit flush along fender.

 

That bulge is due to poor workmanship of the hood, not the springs.
