Finally found a broadcast card for my 71 W30! It was behind the back of the back seat, I found this website that has helped me decode most of the card.

A46 is for the driver's power bucket seat, a very nice option to have and not very common. There has been alot of discussions about the Z that has been found on a number of 70 data plates. Is the Z just indicated on the broadcast card only and not on the data plate?
930 is for a black bucket seat interior. What color is the exterior?

Z only on the broadcast card under the box that is titled SPCL. (special?) car doesn't have a power drivers seat but the seats have been removed before I can tell because someone added extra foam to bottoms. I just installed new foam in them. Car is Viking blue w/black W-30 stripes, black viynel top, black interior buckets w/dual gate, power windows and air conditioning. tilt wheel. hood lock.

 

The Z is also on the data plate. Reads Z930.

 

I haven't heard of a Z on a 71, another mystery. To confirm the power seat option you should check to see if there is a wire harness under the seat. It's too bad the power track isn't there as it does give you a much greater range of adjustability. Pictures of your car would be nice to see.

 

I just replaced the carpet, no wire harness? Just did an interior refresh, new chrome behind arm rests, new arm rest pads, seat foam and chrome seat trim. new wood grain for dual gate and lens, installed the gauge holder that goes where an 8 track would have been. purchased from a member on this site. Nice product w/matching walnut woodgrain. looks good. almost OEM.

 

I believe we have some from as late as May of 71 production.

Gorgeous W30, great picture. It's nice when all you have to do are the little detailing items. I'm jealous.

 

I believe there is not a separate harness for a power bucket seat. It was a large gauge (12??) orange wire enclosed in the black plastic sleeve that runs right under the driver seat back into the trunk. Without taking the carpet up, you might still be able to find the orange wire/connector if you gently pry that sleeve open towards the front of the driver seat after moving the seat all the way back.

Wow you guys know your stuff here. RPO A46 is drivers power seat and here is the harness/power wire for it. Hopefully attached image loads for picture....?

If the car came with a power seat there is a special bracket welded into the floor for mounting the left side of the track. It has a raised stud in which you bolt down the rear part of the track. Non power bucket seat tracks are bolted down through the floor. I believe a bracket is only used for the right side track on a non power bucket seat.
I have seen power seat tracks occasionally offered on this site and on Ebay.
I installed one in my 71SX years ago from another SX parts car I owned. It's a great option.

I wonder why it is missing...maybe it broke so maybe it got tossed? Ive owned the car for 15 years. I know the last two owners. Curios if they know? The car only has 48,000 original miles. All matching #'s engine and OW trans but the H heads are missing also. They got swapped out for Ga unleaded fuel ready heads during a complete rebuild 60 over and to 70 w30 specs with new higher compression pistons etc Arrrg. The guy didn't realize how important the H heads are nowadays. I have one H head but need another. I also have a complete rebuilt set of D heads. Anyways you guys rock! Appreciate all the info. This forum is great. Wish I became a member along time ago. This is my 3rd olds. 69 442 and a 72 H/O my others.

Think I found an A body drivers seat power seat track assembly that was for a 70 SS Chevelle. Will know tomorrow if he still has it. Keeping my fingers crossed!
Im knew to this site and still learning to navigate and post pictures and adjust my profile but getting there. Thanks again everyone for the info. Hopefully picture of the seat track installed soon.

 

Too bad about the H heads. They were also designed for unleaded gas, as were G heads in 71. Seems odd he would turf them unless it was for an exchange of the redone Ga heads. Mysteries of old cars.
As a heads up, the power seat switch is mounted to the inside of the side skirt of the seat. All you will see from the outside is the toggle sticking through the hole in the skirt. Also, there is a plastic black skirt/cover in the front to hide the motor and I believe lower side ones to hide the track when it is raised up. Sometimes those parts go missing. Good luck in your quest.

 

Found an A body seat track that a buddy at works friend had. Lucky me! Tested it and it works good. Very dirty so completely disassembled it, cleaned and lubed with lithium grease, ordered a new belt and installed it in car.
