70 W30 Carb info
Hi,
I am trying to verify the correct carb # for a 1970 442 W30. I have seen the following #'s listed in numerous places:
7040256 - manual transmission
7040258 - auto transmission
Recently I saw an older Olds specific manual (don't remember the name of it) that listed the above #s as well as 7040251. Has anyone seen this last number listed anywhere else as being a correct W30 carb?
Thanks for any info or advice,
Richard.

The 1970 CSM lists 0256 as 442 with W-30 and manual transmission. It lists 0258 as 442 with W-30 automatic trans with or without A/C.
0251 appears to be a generic 455 usage for Cutlass/88/98, A/T and M/T with or without A/C and was probably used as a service replacement carburetor. 0252 is for Toronado.
0253 is 442 manual transmission. 0257 is 442 A/T with or without A/C and 455 W-33 A/T with or without A/C.
I have a Delco Carburetor parts book dated Nov 1971 that corroborates these applications, so I'd say they're about as accurate as you'll get on OE carb usage.
