'70 Gold Stripe Paint Color - help needed to match
I'm getting close to needing to paint the Gold stripes on my '70 442 W30 and I'm trying to find a modern paint equivalent to match what I believe was the original stripe color 23197. From photos I've seen (like this one) it appears that its a non-metalic gold . If anyone has had a sample color matched to an original I'd be keen to touch base. Thanks.
Can't help with a paint formula, but I would sure like to see more of that car...I love that color combo.

Yes its a rare combination Rally Red with gold stripes. Not mine unfortunately, I've got the gold stripes on a Porcelain White body but here's a side pic of the Rally Red.
Kolor Korrect who do original paint for classic cars came good with the correct gold for the stripes. It has little/no metallic (more of a mustard color) so it will be interesting to see how the car turns out in the next few weeks.
Looks great, is that a custom mix or something they found available from a paint formula book? I'd like to get some of that if possible.

I gave them the color number and details and they supplied me that sprayed out sample in the photo above as I cant get that original formula mixed here in Australia and you can't send paint overseas, it did however cost me the same as a quart of paint. Give Jaime a call at Kolor Korrect she was really helpful and they ship anywhere in the US.
Rohan, thanks for all the info about Kolor Korrect.
I went to the local PPG Dealer and he called the PPG Color Library about the 21397 Gold Stripe Paint. They don't have an exact 21397 formula in their current Basecoat/Clearcoat line (the original paint formula was for lacquer), but they do have a recommended color that they said is very very close. He mixed me up a sample and I went home and sprayed a swatch. It looks good I think.
The Kolor Korrect website says their paint is single stage Acrylic Enamel. I prefer Basecoat/Clearcoat, so I think I'm going to go with the PPG.
