68 442 Rad Support

Does anyone know if there is any difference between a rad support from a '68 442 and a '68 Cutlass?

I don't know 100% but I would bet money that they are identical. Takers?

That's what I'm thinking as well. I just remember seeing somewhere that there might be a difference in a small block car. I just want to make sure before I buy. The one I'm looking at is from a Cutlass.

I think the only difference is if it's a 3 or 4 core radiator you might need to change the brackets to mount the larger radiator.

I'm pretty sure the only other difference than the radiator support is the provisions for the two different styles of hood latch. I'm pretty sure the support is slightly different depending on which latch design you have. (I seem to remember there are 4 different part #'s in the assembly manual for the radiator support)

Any thoughts on where the Part# is stamped on the rad support?

its funny that this thread poped up because i looked at this the other day and was wondering about the slotted mounting holes to the frame - i have only seen round ones, must be early design ?http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1968-...item35b4d7990f

There won't be any part numbers on the piece. The numbers were for reference while they were on the assembly line.

The early "paddle" style hood release has part numbers
398381 (non heavy duty cooling)
400821 (heavy duty cooling)

The later "pull" style hood release has part numbers
402272 (non heavy duty cooling)
402274 (heavy duty cooling)

The difference between the "early" and "later" designs is the location where the hood release assembly mounts

These numbers can be seen on pages 11-109 & 11-110 of the 68 assembly manual.

There may be more differences but I spent a bunch of time trying to figure out what core support I have & those were the only differences that I could find

I've only had a couple of core supports but both had slotted holes. The assembly manual shows them slotted on page 11-140
