saw this mentioned in another thread so I thought I would address it here
Did all 68 442 get the pinstripes and/or did some not? The dash in mine looks as original as they get, in my opinion, but no sign of stripes.
I have never seen an interior pin stripe factory. Post pictures of your car please. Red interior cars were so 60's.
I've had 4 1968's and they all had it. Here's a link to one I had... was a great parts car but so sad what had been done to it! Note the double pin stripe at the bottom of the dash, under the instrument panel Aaaarrrrgggggg!!!! Attacked by Cannibals - ClassicOldsmobile.com
Per the PIM, they SHOULD be there, but there are documented original cars without it. I was skeptical at first, but If you watch the Bud Lindemann '68 Hurst/Olds road test video on YouTube from 1968, in the interior shots, you can see that you have a virtually brand new car with no dash stripes.
I've heard people say that some came without.... but..the original tape comes off so easy I'm skeptical that any original tape could survive. Once one small section comes off it's easy to peel the rest off

And usually it's the section under the ignition switch that comes loose first from dangling keys rubbing on it. Ask me how I know.
