68' 442 clutch
68' 442 clutch and Springs help
Well after 40 years and 40k miles I think it's time to change out my clutch. I have a M21 Munci close ratio 4 speed transmission. What kind of clutch would you recommend.
Also does GM sell the stock springs for 68' 442? If not who would be the best company to match up the stock springs. I want the correct hight.
Thanks, Dan

That's the nice thing about the Centerforce clutch. It is a diaphragm but it has weights on the springs so that centrifugal force increases the clamping pressure as the RPM increases. I too have used the high force aftermarket clutches and was not happy. In addition, the extra force caused the tab on the clutch pedal to snap from fatigue (it's only held with two spot welds on the 68-72 cars). I strongly recommend having it fully welded to the pedal arm in any case.
