65 442 muffler question

Hi everyone, I just purchased a 65 442 and I would like to replace the stock mufflers on it. I don't which brand they are, but they are on the quiet side. I don't want something too loud, hopefully like when it was stock from the factory. I also have a 65 Vette with a stock 350/327, looking to try and come close to that sound. Take care.

Mufflers

Get the turbo mufflers from in line tube. They are for '69 but same muffler for '65.

Not sure if you're aware that the '65 442 had chambered tail pipes, changes the sound.

I have a '64 , two '65's I'm putting the turbos on, and a '67, all with the chambered pipes and the stock mufflers for those years are too quiet in my opinion. The turbo mufflers make a great sound with the chambered pipes if you like them louder than stock.

I knew that, previous did not have them on the car, however when he installed the system he had also equipped it with chrome tips on the tail pipes like the chambered tips.

Hello, where did you pick up the mufflers and the chambered pipes?

Sounds good Jerry, maybe post a picture when you can, did you get the 65 2" or the 66 2 1/4"?

Do you end up with a drone sound inside while driving?

I contacted inIine tube today, they said they don't carry a turbo muffler, only a stock replacement.

I bought a couple pairs of chambered pipes from Walt in Michigan, but he no longer makes them, but I understand that Gardner Exhaust in NY does.
Last time I talked to In Line Tube about turbo mufflers was a couple of years ago and they still sold turbos then, and I bought the complete exhaust system for my '69 H/O from them including the turbo mufflers about 6 years ago. Their mufflers are stock replacement dimensions for '68 and newer but are the same as '65 in my book.

I bought the chambered pipes from Walt back around Christmas. I have a Olds show in Lansing Mi. next weekend, I look around there and see what others are using, thanks Jerry.

The Walker Quiet Flow mufflers, which are supposedly Turbo type mufflers, have a nice rumble out the tailpipe - without the horrible droning sound inside the car.
