65 442 Fender Moulding Access
65 442 Fender Moulding Access
Does anyone know how to access the speednuts on the back of the fender moulding, lower, closest to the front of the door? Looks like I may have to undo the fender bolts and pull out at the bottom. Can't seem to get a wrench on from between the fender and door jamb. There must be a trick I'm missing.
They put all the trim on before they mounted the fender, so that's why it's so tough trying to remove it. I was able to get back in there from an open car door with a 1/4" drive socket and remove the nut that holds the aft-most part of the ridge fender piece onto the fender - it took forever but I got it without messing up the paint.
With regard to the 442 numbers, I removed the bolts that hold the inner fender to the fender and accessed the speed nuts through there.

Thanks Randy, actually, I believe your method is probably correct for my car as well. When I bought this car, it had been previously painted without ever putting the chrome back on. Luckily, the trunk-full of chrome parts was only two pieces short and I have them on my parts car. There are two mouldings on each side that are tougher to access. Was hoping to minimize sweat equity, but not likely to happen !!
