200R4 Overdrive with Dual Gate Shifter???

Has anyone done this in a 1972 442? Was it a kit or a fabrication?

At this point, I am gathering the parts.

Also, anyone have a 200R4 core?

TIA

Hurst briefly sold an aftermarket four speed dual gate in the 1980s. When one shows up on ebay now it will usually sell for more than an original 60s unit. These units are highly coveted by the Buick GN crowd.

Shifter parts

There's a company making the detent that will fit a standard automatic floor shifter. I had talked with them a couple years ago and they were having trouble trying to make one for a dual gate. I'll dig around and see if I can come up with their web address. But that still wouldn't resolve the top plate. John

Shifter

OK, I've not used their products but have been told they're good. They advertise an automatic shifter converstion for the 4 speed automatic that will fit the factory console. I don't see the dual gate but they do have the single gate for applications from 1964-72. John

Sorry to bring an old thread back to life but just wanted to note that they now do offer a conversion kit to use the dual gate with a 4 speed transmission on 70-72 models. It's at the bottom of the page on the above link. Just thought some might like to know.

I've seen the Shiftworks kit installed in a 70-72 factory dual gate. Its, ah, OK. Not great, but OK. The kit puts OD in the formerly neutral position. Neutral and reverse are now crammed into what used to be reverse alone. The problem is that without a new top plate, you have no other choice.
