I don't know how it works in jersey, but in the badger that title overrides a duplicate. I would turn that in to dmv and ask them to forward it to the current owner unless the car is scrapped, then it might make a cool keepsake that I would not mind having. What happened to the car?

 

car was stolen in 1988 and not recovered.

 

Be interesting to see if anyone wants you to send them the original title....

 

I wouldn't send this title to anyone without positive proof of current ownership.
