1969 Grille Options

So, when I bought my '69, in the trunk along with tons of goodies/junk were at least two normal sets of grilles, and two sets of vertical-bar grilles (not 1970 grilles... these fit a '69, the bars are thin and there's tons of empty space).

Occasionally while browsing the net I come across a '69 with the vertical-bar grilles. Sometimes on a 442, sometimes on a Cutlass.

What's the deal here? Some option package or something?

I suppose I'm more curious than anything... I'm probably going to leave the originals on anyways..

The 442 had a different grill than a Cutlass. Not a 69 expert, but I think the 442 is black, and the Cutlass is silver, with the vert bars, wide spaces?

There were only two grille options in 69. The black grilles with rectangular openings were used on 442s and H/Os. All other Cutlii got the silver vertical bars.
