Weight of a stripped down 442?
Weight of a stripped down 442?
I am trying to secure the movement of a 65 442 from out east, to the mid-west.
One of the potential shippers asked what I would estimate the weight of the car. I have no idea, so I am turning to the experts.
How much would you stimate a stripped down 1965 Olds 442 would weigh with no interior, no engine, no transmission, and an open rear-end?
Thanks for the help.

I'd tell them 2500 lbs. It isn't going to matter because weight isn't going to be the issue. Shipping an inoperable car is expensive.
BTW I saw your other posts about parts from this car. I hope you got a really good look at pics because I haven't found much of anything around here that's worth saving.

Setting the Pace lists the weight of a '65 Cutlass two-door at about 3,400 lbs. Subtract whatever you think an engine and transmission weigh. I'm guessing allyolds68's guess of 2,500 lbs is probably pretty good. Maybe 100 or 200 more? Somewhere in the mid-to-high 2,000's seems reasonable.
