1968 442 Convertible Trunk Lid Reproduction- Just received mine!

Just picked up my trunk lid at UPS.

Bringing to the body shop tomorrow for test fit. Looks like a really, really nice piece, straight as an arrow with all the bends and contours. True test will be when we snug it up to the car.

Metal is definitely a lighter weight yet this shouldn't be a problem.

Will send update shortly.

I heard the same thing- upon quick inspection the under side looks pretty original - there are two rings or circles yet they aren't anything too obvious.
It would take a purist to find any problems with this trunk…..hopefully the fit is as good as the look.

Purchased from Tamraz- shipping was more fair than any other vendor and they had a 10% off before Christmas.

I'm 99% sure all of these body parts come out of the same third party warehouse in TX.

The metal being lighter was a problem for me on the one I bought for my 72 vert. Dont lean on it at all, don't push AT ALL on it if you are pushing on the car or you will cause dents.

Trunk is mounted and fit is damn near perfect- all body lines are even, took a little push pull of the trunk hinges to get the height right on.
Looks really, really good- I'm impressed.
Quality is so-so. Guage (sp?) of metal is wafer thin and corner joints are a bit sloppy. You can push/pull the edges in out as needed for fitment. Good for fit, bad for long term hold.
Definitely wouldn't want to push on it, lean on it or bump it.
underside is definitely not correct- looks like they used the inside cage from newer years (room for '70 ish tail lights). When it's closed nobody will know.
I found it impossible to find a good quality, rust free, light/no bondo trunk. This got my project going again.
Given time I will probably find good original trunk and hold it for the future.
