1965 442 advice

Ok, found a 65 442 convertible 4 speed car. All there motor out of the car but never torn down. Has been sitting a long time. Will need floor boards. Trunk has some rust in the lower qtrs.

What would be a price that would be reasonable to pay for a car like this?

Motor and trans are there. Just out of the car. Side scoops are very nice. All trim is there. Pitted. Will need two bumpers rusted. Interior is all there, dirty probably needs replacing.

I would say all orig trans verified numbers to a 442 I would say 3k but floor pans are a lot of work might be cheaper to buy one closer to done unless you can do the work your. Self

Another thing how is the top ?

They don't make patch panels for this car except the floor and trunk pan so the quarters, window channels are usually fabed up or good used ones installed

Top is there. Will need to be replaced. Thinking frame off is the only way to go with this car.

I would hate to see a rare car parted out. But if the project becomes too big, say you find the frame and body mounts are swiss cheese and decide not to restore it. What would it be worth in parts? I'd consider that when deciding how much you'd pay for it.

The 1964 pictured below is a huge project that I hope to get to some day. But if all else fails, the 4 speed console, bucket seats and floor shift tilt column are worth more than what I paid for the whole car. I don't mind taking things apart... most days I'd rather do that then watch T.V. So for me I decided I wouldn't get hurt buying it as a big project.

My 2 cents worth.

John
