Question Change lug stud

Hi guys.

I have detected a bad lug stud on the rear wheel of my '71 442 (drum brake).
I would also like to buy spare parts for the front wheels (disc brakes).
I also add that the nuts it uses are 1.375 inches.
Which of the 3 that appear on the rockauto page should I buy?

Thanks for the help.

Regards

Geez, how would you know till you get the old one out? This would be a time to go old school and take old stud into nearby auto parts store and match up.

Not easy Greg, I live in Spain
I'm going to measure the thread, I hope that's enough.
Thanks.

I'm not sure where you got that screen capture. According to this thread, and from what I saw on RockAuto, you need Dorman 610-186.

At least you were able to remove the lug nut. I had a stripped lug nut which I had to beat to death (saw off, drill off) to get off - it was not a pretty sight. In the process I destroyed the lug stud. Replacing the lug stud was simple. I normally don't like Dorman products, but the Dorman lug studs I ordered & received were very good quality. As others have said remove the old lug stud first. You need to remove the hub to replace the lug stud anyways.

It's the rear wheel, and the "hub" is on the end of the axle shaft. I have always just driven the old one out, then pulled the new one in using a lug nut turned backwards and a stack of washers.

Oh yeah, rear wheel. My bad. Still, happy the OP was able to remove the lug nut.

Hi guys.

I would like to share with you what I have been able to do with the lug stud change.
I decided to order the stud that @Olds64 indicated to me from rockauto and the truth is that it went very well, it is a little longer than the stud I had but it fit perfectly.
I found it to be a fairly simple system, the stud itself is held in place thanks to the rim, old school, I love it.
I take this opportunity to thank you all for telling me what to buy and how to make the change. A friend helped me, but next time I hope to be able to do it myself.

Regards

That had to be very hard work.
It was not easy for me to remove the nut, there is not more than 5mm left to remove it, but it was so hard that when removing it, it bent the stud.

Yeah, I created a real nice work of art getting that nut off:

Ohh Vintage, I've already taken a quick look at the thread, you did a great job and had a large part of the community involved.
It's nice to have people who share the same hobby and selflessly help other fans, just as you have done with the problem I encountered a few weeks ago.
