Oil on Clutch Disc

Hello all,

Somehow some oil spilled on a clutch disc that I was planning to use. I've had luck getting some oil off discs in the past, but cleaned it up right away with acetone. This is soaked in. Anyone ever try baking oil out of an oil soaked clutch disc? It's not a lot but it's definitely soaked in. Wondering how hot would be hot enough or if this would even work.

Do you really want to go through the trouble of installing this disc only to have to pull the trans and clutch again when the clutch chatters?

No, but I can't just trash a brand new Centrrforce clutch disc. Grandpa would throw nothing away and I mean nothing!

How much oil soaked into it? Like Joe P stated, clutch chatter could be your end result with an eventual replacement in your future anyway.

If you definitely want to use it Brakekleen is probably the best choice. If it is riveted try to saturate the area for an extended period, the Brakeeen should go in wherever oil went. If it is glued together the Brakekleen may dissolve the glue.

Good luck!!?

I've never had good luck with an oil soaked clutch ever being as good as a new one. Most of the ones I tried to fix were out of tractors, so that might make a difference but they all shuddered and would do so for the life of the tractor and never burn off like I hoped they would....Tedd

All brakeleen does is cause the oil to migrate further.

you are going to end up throwing it away anyway, after you remove the trans a second time.
