It appears Olds was perceived ONLY as the stately Old Man's car, due to the "Old" part of "OLDS-mobile", and so the advertising tried to twist that around and note the YOUNG features of the Cutlass S and whatnot. I think they should have simply made clear that Mr. OLDS made the company name from his last name, and the word "automobile" and then extolled the virtues of the advanced engineering features available, power with fuel economy, etc. Educate the public about the company's roots...
