piece of s#@* ad bar above
I have never had a problem with any of the ads on the site I just don't pay any attension to them. Well now there is an ad that comes up for Subaru of Plano and it opens up every time you glide the mouse across it. Its really starting to **** me off. Its just started about 2 days ago and olny with that one ad.

Get Firefox with adblock and NEVER see an ad again! I LOVE IT!!!! No registration, no BS. Just download and install.
Yes, I am with you - I hate crap that jumps out at me, even those dumb survey boxes when FIRST going to a site. If I get those, i usually leave the site and they possible lose a customer. I have a feeling this ad crap will only get worse in time.
Did you get your lift lifting yet?

I know the one. It started hitting me about a month ago - if you even get NEAR it, it opens and starts playing a movie with sound, and then it's hard to stop.
Really annoying.
- Eric
ps: I agree - FireFox is a good solution.

try it out
You ever notice the ads change from time to time? They often reflect you search history.
Thank you google and IB.
I find the worst offenders you glide over, are the words highlighted in green.

I just got that Subaru crap again when I tried to respond to this the first time. If this crap keeps up, I am done. It is not like a popup, it takes over the whole damn screen. This is pure BS. This site is slow enough without this crap.

It seems to be a very localised problem, all the posters saying they have the same trouble appear to be near the Dallas area.
I get similar adverts too, but they are from local (south east England) sources.
Don't forget it's the advertisers that keep the site free to use. It seems the Plano Subaru dealership is trying to aim its advertising at its target audience, I'd wager it appears on lots of auto related websites in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.
I dare say if the advertisers get enough negative feedback they will pull it from the site, no point in wasting money advertising to an audience that doesn't want your product.
Roger.

Good point Roger and I think you are right but I also think the browser one uses makes a difference. I am less than 5 miles from Plano and don't get that ad. I use Firefox. I don't know what we can do about it though, as you said it seems to be the price that must be paid. Sites aren't free and IB has to get money somehow.

Google AdSense does look at your IP address and and can tailor ads for your area.
On another non-automotive forum I get a lot of Eastwood ads. I haven't been to their site in awhile but I do get their e-mails. Thank God it doesn't screen the junk mail!
On a news website I get a lot of Tiger Direct and Home Depot ads after I've been to those places. The ads will show the items I was looking at when I was there. Talk about personal.
