Oldsmobile owners near Granbury Texas

Well I'm relatively new to the site! I am semi-restoring this car for my 16 year old son as a reward for great grades and because, well, I guess he's an all around great kid.
Yea I could have bought him a late model rice grinder or a pick-up truck, but what would he have learned from that! We currently run some of the local car shows with my 1963 Plymouth Fury and I hope we can hook up with other Oldsmobile owners with his car.

Welcome to the site. Nice looking car you have there. I am no where near you, but I hope you and your son enjoy working on it together and taking it to shows.

Welcome to the site. There are a few of us in the DFW area. Nice looking Fury. Post some more pics of the olds.

Did you call me about my 330 a few months back? The person I talked to was building a 66 or 67 for his teenage son.

Off topic but did you know Jimmy P? I went out to Granbury about a year ago to help work on his Chevelle for his wife. I was wondering if it ever got finished for her.

Welcome! Nice Fury, I've never seen one myself. I'm over in Lewisville. Ha, I don't drive anything like that Fury. I drive an 82 Custom Cruiser station wagon :-P

Talking Welcome to CO

Nice present you bought for your son. Great bonding experience. Does that year of Fury have the square steering wheel?

Eric:
Nice Olds, and what a great Father/Son project! LIke Richard said, there are a few of us in the DFW area (North Texas Olds Club); probably be a stretch to make a 2nd Sunday meeting from Granbury. We just got back from a caravan to Bastrop; had a Zone Show in October; hosted the 2006 Olds Club Of America Nationals in Dallas. Hope to get to meet you and your Son in person (and see the car in the process, also!).

Hi
I have a vacation house in Bosque county , probably a little bit more than a hour from you , would have been nice to meat sometime, I don' have any Oldsmobiles in Texas since I love all kinds of American cars
Bought a 59 Ranchero and a lowmiler 64 Bel Air last time.
I will there 6 weeks in February/March.

Great pictures and turnout of the Bastrop Show!!! We have two or three car shows here in Granbury every year usually hosted by D&D Rockin Rods, which bring pretty good turn outs. We had been running my Fury.
Now that we have the Cutlass running, and he has an actual drivers permit legal in the State of Texas, we may run into some of you around the area. Maybe run up to Busy B's Bakery on a nice Sunday Morning.

Oh, by the way I had a 1967 Cutlass as my first car!!

Always liked the push button transmission. Had a 62 Chylsler 300 non letter car with the 383 was pretty quick for a grocery getter.

There are several of us in the DFW area. With a lot of other things going on, I have not been very active the last 2-3 years. The brakes have been out on my Cutlass for about 3 years and I have most of the stuff to do a disk brake conversion except the time.
Granbury is a neat place. We make it down there about every year and a half. We have been to Granbury Live twice. Neat show. It is just a neat little town with the courthouse square. We usually stay in a bed & breakfast. It is a neat getaway. Great to have you and contrats on you son doing well. That is something to be very proud of.

Well it's off to the upholstery shop to get changed from the old Parchment interior to a complete semi custom Black. It will be back by Xmas Eve.

Yes, several of us are from the DFW area.
I was out your way this past summer at Dino Valley State park.
I did not drive the Olds as the weather was rainy.
It would be nice to take a long cruise and meet up this spring or such.
Fossil Rim looks interesting.

If your interior resto turns into what mine did, you will be done by spring.

Well Rob,
Next time you decide to cruise to Mayberry, let me know!! The interior is being done by 1 of our venders, I work at a car dealership here in town. I thought long and hard about tackling the interior myself with off the shelf repro parts. The cost was higher but the pain factor of having it done was much less. I'll let ya know how it tuned out in 2 weeks.

It's back...

Well, it took just under 2 weeks and we went and got her today. The interior went from parchment, to black. New headliner, front and back seat covers, door panels, package tray, carpet, a little paint, and etc...!! We basically went semi custom, using a soft vinyl. Looks great!!!

For those of you who live in the Dallas/Ft Worth area (wait).... (its comming).... (here's the plug) see Jeff @ South Side Trim. He did everything I asked, made some welcome suggestions, and most importantly kept the project in budget!!

Oh yeah, did I mention, it looks great too!!!!!

So here it is to date:

Purchase price of car in April- $5000.00

(1967 Olds Cutlass Holiday Coupe 330/ 320 hp auto trans - 120k miles... all original with the exception of the older painted Rose body / Pearl white roof and some fantastic pin stripes that unfortunately must go!!)

Performed the following:

Upper A Frame bushings, left axle bearing, front wheel bearings, front brake shoes, rear station wagon springs, full set of shocks.

What started out as a simple set of valve guide seals led to wet feet and a complete valve job. A complete tune-up and had to replace distributor vacuum advance. I left the points in for posterity. Edelbrock carb and spacer.

A new set of American racing wheels with BFG White Letters. The old school look!!

An AM/FM/CD in dash stereo, 6x9's on the package tray, and 6" round's in the doors.

Well, dumped all the receipts on the table and after about 1/2 hour of cyphering, I believe we have about $8800.00 in her!

It's a wonder what you can do with the money ordinarily spent on cigarettes!!

I think we are going to take a break on projects till spring, drive her a bit and concentrate on getting Chris his drivers license.
