Talking Hello from Idaho

Another oldie to Oldsmobile, but newbie to the forum. My son is buying a cherry 1970 Cutlass so I won't rain on his parade, I'll let him join here and show it off. It didn't happen without pix. I thought I'd join and catch up on the genre. I have owned a 67 Cutlass Turnpike cruiser, a 68 CS, a 1970 CS convertible and a 72 Delta in the past. Proud of the lad for choosing wisely, can't wait to help him tinker on this gem. It needs nothing actually. He found one with the factor 350 4bbl, almost bone stock, 96K miles, and lovingly kept. Heck, it even has the original ball joints and tie rod ends. I need to keep my wrenches greasy so I'll swap those for him. I am jealous. I suppose I'll have to get one myself, but will have to one up him just to keep things in proper perspective.

I'll let him post them. I can't post his pictures. That would be thread theivery. I don't even own a car now as I live and work overseas. All I have is a Harley. I would get another 1970 Cutlass or a 68 Toro. The 70 Cutlass was my favorite year. I was always attracted to the early 60's Rivieras too. 63 64 65. My first car was a 1956 Sedan de Ville. I have a full shop with all the tools for tinkering waiting for me start a project, need to find the right rod first. The bad economy is a good time to shop for jewels.

Welcome to the site, both of you! Nice car! Dad, you should check out the Craigslist ads in the towns nearby. The other day I was surfing the Boise Craigslist just for grins. There were several older Oldsmobiles listed. John

Idaho is usually very rust free and a good place to surf cars. I need a pick up first. Looks like I found one of those too. Have to find the lad a stock intake and carb at some point. I suppose they aren't too hard to find. Been toying with the idea of a HEI, but I really don't mind points in the slightest. Wish I'd bought cases of Blue Streak Uni-sets when GM switched to electronic igntion. Can you still find those?

Greetings from Boise. Looks like a nice, clean ride. You guys north, south, or east? With trees in the pics, I'm guessing north? What carb? I prefer HEI and Quadrajet, and I'd leave the intake alone.

My son calls New Hampshire home now so that is where the car is. He has and Edelbrock intake and carb. We will be looking for an original intake and quadrajet for it. Switching to HEI makes sense. I live out in Notus. Both of us work overseas compliments of Uncle Sugar.
