Hello, car loving mad man here...
I was conceived in the back of a tri power 65 GTO,
came home from the hospital in a 68 442,
and got some of my first other rides in a 70 SS 4 speed Chevelle.
I do not even remember those cars.
I first remember riding in a 69 Daytona that was my mom's.
We had it until about 76. First trips I remember making to grand parents, pre-school, first 4th of July I remember, etc. in that car.
Somewhere in the early 70s before the parents sold the Daytona we also had a 69 Z28, first 8 track I remember hearing get played I was in the back seat of that.
Those were the days. Dad was a mechanic and logger, Mom was a part time waitress. And they could own awesome cars.
Anyways, my first car was a small block 400 with quadrajet first gen Monte Carlo that I totaled. I then trashed a 4 door, green, 350 2 bbl Impala.
I then got a 69 GTO in four different shades of blue, a NOM 350. And sunk every cent I had into before selling when I first got married.
I joined the military after HS and sunk every dime into an 85 Z28 that was a year old with 10K miles on it from my saved money and enlistment bonus.
I fell in love with a woman with a V8 Cutalss Supreme and we got married in 89.
Soon after, it was nothing but SUVs and sedans.
With all the crumb snatchers out of cars seats, I went back to two doors.
My everyday car is a Challenger RT I got in September of 2008.

I have a nice driver 69 GTO. It's a real GTO but not originally 4 speed, RA car, or Judge.

I saved a 71 Javelin SST 360/console AT car that had sat for 20 years and was about to get crushed. It is a rough driver with 100$ worth of driveway body work and paint that is a "ten yarder." If it had been a 401, 4 speed, or AMX I think it may not have gotten into such desperate times. I have now put a couple of thousand miles on it.

I also saved a 74 Roadrunner. It was a bucket seat, automatic small block car. It was a stalled project about to be parted out. It is a factory sun roof car coding for black with red. The year is not popular with Mopar fans, nor is the small block. It was also in desperate times. It is a yard, around the block driver that is a smidge away from being fully road worthy now. It also got the 100$, 100 footer driveway cosmetics.

My wife tolerates but no longer has love for the oldies.
She still loves performance and American.
Her first dream car would have been a convertible Mustang.
She got stuck with a 6 cylinder Maverick instead.
I have rectified the situation with one of those new 5.0 Mustangs.
Anyways, I could never afford to get the Daytona back. We live well within our means, and can enjoy the Mustang and Challenger. People I know have spent more on a bicycle than I paid for cars like the Javelin and RoadRunner. Just being a GTO built to RAIII Judge specs with a Muncie also means my GTO driver comes in at a fraction of a real Judge.
I want to find a car from each of the companies that no longer exists, but made classic performance cars back in the day. I already have AMC, Plymouth, and Pontiac represented.
I would like to find a 68 two door post, bench seat, column shift Cutlass or 442.
Road worthy driver that needs some TLC level of car.
My wife's Supreme was a column shift bench seat
I know everyone loves the Hurst Olds, 442, GTO, Judge, Buick GS, Chevelle SS, etc. top of the line hard tops.
But in real life I saw lots more 350 hard tops and two door posts than the top of the line models. And, in my heart, as you can see from my other rescues,
the Tempests, Specials, Malibus, etc. need love too.
Another odd ball I might have to find to represent Mercury would be one of those Marauder x100s. Full size muscle.
I guess for Oldsmobile instead of a cutlass a full sized, vent window, two door, bench seat, column shift would do just as well as a Cutlass.
Somebody has to save them!
Not winning car shows, but being on the road and not parted out or crushed is pretty darn good in my book.
Glad to be here.

I still have not found the right car for an Oldsmobile.
For car companies that made great cars in the muscle car era, but no longer exist,
I have the
Pontiac GTO
Plymouth Roadrunner
AMC Javelin
For Mercury I see Cougars pretty often, but hope to find a Marauder x-100.
For Oldsmobile, I have my heart seat on a 68-72
two door post with bench seat and column shift.
Any good leads on a driver like that?
Thank you.

Nice cars, welcome back.
I lost my 68 Coronet R/T to a Marauder bad in 77. It ran into the side of my car when the lady driving it was shooting across a parking lot. My Coronet was totaled and hers had a bent bumper.
Hopefully you'll find your Cutlass soon.

Roadrunner needs a lot also.
Fun, reliable driver is about as far as I get.
I like looking at well restored, rare, all original, etc. at shows and museums and really like those kind of cars.
However, all the fun for me is driving them so the work is limited to mechanics, handling, etc.
