i have what i beleive is a real 1964 442 convertible please help thanks

Welcome. FYI, a more descriptive post title than just your name will help get you people who can provide an answer more quickly. Also, photos of the car, and especially the cowl tag, will really help.

Couple of ways to rule 4-4-2 in or out real quick: Automatic or four-speed? Build date? An automatic (or 3-speed manual) is a no-go, as is a build date before ~mid-February of '64.

The earliest documented 64 that I know of had an 03A build date.

Okay, so anything pre-March should trigger OP's BS detector but anything before mid-Feb. is definitely out.
