Barn Find?

Back in 2011 while on patrol, I noticed this car sitting in a pole barn behind a house in a small town in Oklahoma. I stopped and asked if it was for sale and the elderly lady said no, it was her grandson's, and he was going to do something with it. Yesterday (13 years later) I drove by there and took this photo. It's still there. I didn't knock on the door and ask about it because I have no place to put it and my wife would kill me if I brought home one more car. It's either beyond repair, a parts haven or worth restoring, I have no idea which.

Your thoughts?

Don't you know? They're going to restore it one day.

It looks like there's a bunch of stuff stacked on top of it. Sad.

I hate seeing people do that. I am sure they really believe they are going to restore it one day. Hopefully it is still restorable but I bet it is probably a parts car.

Your thoughts?
You don't have to want the car yourself to have a legitimate reason to stop and ask about it. You could just say that you're an Olds enthusiast who could bring it to the attention of people who might be interested in buying it, which is true. Someone frequenting this site might very well be interested. And the owner might be happy to get rid of it without having to take the time and bother to list it on craigslist or wherever, field calls and emails, and all the rest. The grandmother who answered the door 13 years ago might no longer be with us, and the family is wondering what to do with the car. You never know until you ask.

Go back and knock on the door again. Offer her 500, drag it out of there. Tell the wife it’s a flip..clean it up..flip it. Your happy it’s getting used, new buyer is happy they got a car and granny is already on Amazon..win, win win.

Problem is, I bought a Charger as a flip... Wife liked it, and we kept it. Bought a Wrangler as a flip .... I's my daily driver. I don't have a good track record with that. Between my wife, son and I, we have 7 cars and 2 motorcycles, and I live in a city in a nice neighborhood. Garage is full, driveway is full. No way I'm getting away with another car.. at any price, for any reason until I thin the herd.

Good one. But I've tried this one already, unfortunately she is quite well aware that one car is worth ~100 pairs of shoes.

Your profile shows you own a H/O. Stop by driving that and it may show you would be a good steward for the one in question.
My H/O was in a shed for 10 years and owner bought it because he knew it was special.
He was more than happy to sell it knowing it was going to a good home.
If nothing else, you may make a new friend and be able to help bring this one back to life.

That was my plan until my wife shot it down. I'll take another bite at the apple next week and try to go by there at some point.

You could lay the "I love you, but I'm the man, and you're the woman, and I'll make the decisions concerning my life" on her.

On the other hand, she might start singing about respect if you did that.

You're right. Both are great songs.

Edit: Respect is in Blues Brothers 2000, I forgot.
