What options? The alternator will be different depending on option, especially A/C or not.

I'm totally with you on wanting to rebuild the originals, if they're still on the car.
To get you started and based on the tidbit I can slightly see in your photos, IIRC, you may have...
#1102843 or #1102844 (code "JC" or "JD") for your Generator (alternator). There are a couple other "option based" numbers and codes that could be on the car but lets start with these two for now.
Your starter could be #1108794, #1109022, #1109026, or #119072. Depending on when your car was built, these numbers could have been changed or superseded.
On your build sheet, check boxes 30 and 31 to see if they have two letter codes in each of them. Although, box 30 probably has two ** in it. 50/50 shot on a code being there.
Box 31 may have code JC or JD in it. Whichever code is in the box, it will be stamped on top of the generator (alternator) if it hasn't faded off or been changed.
I'll double check my literature when I get home.
For now, I hope this helps.

Okay, let me check those numbers when I get home and see if I can decode the dates and what I can find out on them.
Your alternator is #110796? Is there a number missing? Is it a 61amp alternator?

macrover has the right numbers, but to narrow it down the 61 amp 1102843 is the alternator number you need. the 1102844 applies if you have a heated back glass. The 1108794 starter is what would have come in your car originally. The 1100796 alt you have is correct for 1968 Chevelle/ Malibu's.

You're welcome. Thanks for the trim tag photo, I wanted to check your build date. Looks like it was built the second week of November in '76.
RocketDevo, thanks for the input and you are correct. You got to this before I could.
Yes, the 1102844 is for heated glass, A/C, and heavy duty cooling. Based on his photos, I noticed the car had A/C and didn't have the heated glass. It was/is not known if it's the original back window or not. Additionally, heavy duty cooling was in question as well.
Before it was known which code was on the build sheet, I simply posted both numbers and the corresponding codes to give him an idea of which generator/alternator it could have been, if it was original to the car.
Regarding the transmission numbers, yes, the VIN derivative is stamped on the driver side of the case (lower middle, near the shift bracket). The code for the transmission type, probably "LMxxxxxx", is stamped on the governor cover on the driver side of the transmission as well.
Does your dealer check sheet have the transmission number(s) on it?
