72 cutlass overflow - what are you using?
Well, maybe when it was new it didn't need an overflow but it does now. Tested the cap and it tested fine. Seem to always be adding coolant and I know it's coming from the overflow line. There is no way I'm paying $200 for an re-pro overflow bottle. The car is just a daily driver at best. I was just wondering if anyone has found a suitable overflow bottle from another type of car that might still be available at a reasonable price.
What is everyone else using? Right now I'm using the bottle that the antifreeze came in
I'm sure some of you have come up with some pretty creative solutions.
Thanks,
Mike

I haven't looked in a long time but they used to make and aftermarket kit that had everything you needed including the cap. I certainly understand on the $200 for a repro for a driver.

On one of my present cars & many previous I used a washer reservoir mounted on the right fender liner, works great.
On the other, I have the aftermarket setup. Bottle, "wire" bracket, comes w/ hose & cap, works great, mounted to OAI hood lock bracket, IIRC about $20-30 from NAPA a few years ago.

I used the coolant reservoir listed in the link below. I purchased it from JC Whitney originally, but they don't list it anymore.
I had plenty of room to mount it next to the radiator on the front support. It does not look to out of place and the basket frame that supports the jug is adjustable. So, I only had to drill one hole and use and an existing hole to mount it.
Cheap and simple. The only thing that I would change would be the overflow hose (not sure how long it would hold up) and a new cap as the red one is kind of cheesy.
Hope this helps.

Radiator 101
Are you overfilling the radiator? Level for a non-recovery system should be about 3" below filler neck when cold. If you fill it to the neck as you would with a recovery-type system, it is going to puke the excess out until it finds the level it wants- which is going to be 2-4" below the filler neck.
There should be a "full cold" mark stamped into the radiator tank.

Look like it's just what I need! Thanks defiant1
Thanks for the ideas!
I do keep it filled about 2-3" below but every time I run it it seems to drip a little more. I guess having a bottle in there will give me a increased level of comfort for a long trip.
extreme1dasani water bottle???
extreme1, "dasani water bottle" that sound cool, maybe
I could use a Jack Daniels bottle! Combine art and old school glass bottle
When I got the car it had a gallon lacquer thinner can in there!
Thanks everyone! If anyone has some unique solutions post some pics, might make an interesting gallery.

I know what you mean about the repos. I saw one like this on a car...

Yeh, I was looking at those. I also like this one with the site tube so you can see how much fluid is in there.
