Speedometer cable

On my 65 starfire is possible to switch my speedo cable from the spindle to the trans while using the stock Speedometer? And if so what all would I need to make the conversion?

We just had this exact discussion a week ago. All 1965-1970 Olds full size cars are the same in this respect.
