Possible Factory Markings

These hand written numbers are written on the pass side radiator core support, 2 in a circle followed by 6-7-72. I’ve always thought it was possible the day the car went through the assembly line. Has anyone else seen this before?

I think that was probably put on there by a mechanic at the selling dealership. At the Buick dealership i worked at in 1964-66, the mechanic who serviced the car when it cam would paint his number on the radiator cover. They never dated them. This appears to be written on piece of tape. I don't think the assembly line would do that. I am just making a guess and may be completely wrong.

Thanks for the reply, it looks like tape but years ago when I painted the core support, I taped it off to not lose it.

The factory typically used stamps, paint sticks and chalk to mark things and usually were "inspection" markings on the assembly line. Anything other than that would have been a pre-printed sticker. Its very likely that the tape and markings were added when the car was being serviced for delivery.

What is the build code on the Fisher Body tag.
Id go with the Dealership mechanic doing this during dealer prep before the car was delivered to the customer

Reminds me of a foyer in my Mother's house. The paper hanger wrote his name and the date on the wall. 1911. The painters in 2005 painted over it. I couldn't believe it.

Dang... I would have felt compelled to leave that section there and put a little frame around it.

That's EXACTLY what I had planned for it. The idiots painted it over! The house has been sold now for 6 years. When I confronted them they really didn't get it. They just didn't get it. I could have throttled them! I thought about trying to remove the paint, etc. Threw up my hands instead. It's done.
