Cutout bumpers

Anyone else noticed the abundance of cutout bumpers used on newer vehicles? High-zoot imports have had them for several years, but even Dodge Ram pickups are getting into the act now- complete with rolled lip around the opening.

How much you wanna bet their designers can't tell you the first car to use a cutout bumper? Hint- event though Oldsmobile made it famous and a marque styling identifier, Olds wasn't the first. We're not talking thru-the-bumper exhaust tip openings a la 56 Ford/Thunderbird or 54 Cadillac- we're talking a true cutout exhaust opening.

Uh, ok. Is this a test or are you going to tell us who was first?
Ok I'll guess either Bugatti or Porsche

They waited for Olds to go out, so they could copy without being sued!!

I have noticed the increased use of cut out bumpers.

So,who was the first to use them?

I think the clue is:
They waited for Olds to go out
So that would make it AFTER 2004

How about 2005 Audi A6?
or maybe the Volvo S60R?

How about another clue???

The mother in law just bought a new Nissan Altima. Guess what? Cutout bumper with dual exhaust.

Well at least they don't have the trumpet exhaust tips

Well I went and checked my 07 Sonata. It has dual cutouts and it's own style of 'trumpet' exhaust.
