Temp gauge

Has anyone done a current flow check of a rally pack temp gauge? Seems that no matter how many senders I try, always get a center of scale reading (hot or cold). As the resistance of the sender changes as it gets hot, should cause a current change that causes the needle on the gauge to move. I know the engine temp is good (when hot) (checked with an IR temp scanner) but I am stumped on the gauge.

Any suggestion appreciated. Thanks.

When you installed the sender did you use any teflon tape or paste. I did and that threw off my gauge reading. I removed it and cleaned it and reinstalled it and it worked fine.

Yeah. Your supposed to use the Teflon, but only so much that the treads actually come thru the tape when installed.

Try without any tape, if it leaks, use teflon sparingly

Same issues here, except needle would peg hot..it was the gauge.

You should not need teflon tape as the it's pipe thread and they seal against themselves.

I used the b w d WT 203 on a factory rally pac. No issues. I first started with another brand and it read hot. The car was not running hot. I mapped the temp/resistance on the stove - it was off from the spec Maybe it was a bad unit, not sure or its rang was not compatible. I bought a different brand - the b w d w t 203 and it worked just fine.
