It is an accesory light. Perhaps the bulb is burt out or the contacts are dirty. I sometimes have to flick it back and forth to get my light to come on. I think it uses the same oblong bulb as the dome light

OK, I'm just funnin' with ya, don't take offense.
So what do you young guys call that look? I call em' wagon wheels. Cause you can see every thing through the wheels as they turn. Kind'a like wheels on wagons in old western movies. Who was the first to come up with that look, John Wayne. Naw he's dead. Must'a been Will Smith, he did some westerns.
What's called the 'stinkbug' look now was so big wide tire would fit the back. Most guys refered to the big, wide tires as Meats. So what do you refer to those wheels & tires as? I've heard the term "Shoes", is that it? You could shorten up my term and just call em' W's. (Wagon Wheels) As in; "Dude, I got get me some "W's" for my Cutlass."
Ok, sorry! All Stinkbug comments welcome.

LOL!!
That was very funny Don.You asked that in a very professional way.I wish everyone had that courtesy. The word "shoes" is kind of the old terminology.People now just call them rims and tires. I guess depending on what part of the country you live in people like to ride a little differently. This is my 2nd 72 cutlass. My first one was low with 22'' inch rims tucked under the fenders with a 455.I was buying a set of $1,000 tires every 3 months. "Wagon wheels"!! Ha-Ha
