OAI air assembly

Well I just got a OAI hood for my 70 SX and I was looking at ways to seal the air cleaner to the hood. So I was wondering it I could get the OAI Air Cleaner Assembly for Thornton http://gawain.membrane.com/~thornton/aircleaner.html and put it on my original 2bbl air cleaner base? I assume I can but before I go and spend $430 I wanna make sure. Thanks in Advance.

Alright I just got off the phone with thornton, turns out the 2bbl cleaner base is about a inch smaller.... Now all I have to do is figure out how to get a clean install with out switching the original crab and intake...

They never added the W25 hood to the 2 bbl carb'd engines. Why don't you want to get a 4bbl for it?

I know they didn't, Im just trying to keep this car as original as I can, except for the w-25 hood which Im trying to make it as easy as possible to switch back to stock. Plus since this isn't a daily driver. I know if I start to switch the intake and carb Ill get a bad case of might as well do it while its down. If that happens then I know my plan of keeping it stock will go out the window. Then I wont have a old car to drive for a little bit since my other 2 aren't up to par yet.

I know it probably sounds dumb to some but I already have to many projects planned and I just wanna be able to jump in the car and go for a nice cruise.

Well to be fair they did put a 4bbl on the SX mid year . You could find a cast intake and a quad and have fun with it.

Besides...the sound of those secondaries opening coming thought the hood is AWESOME!!

While I agree that a Qjet is the way to go, you can buy adapters to put a 4bbl air cleaner on your 2bbl carb. Check Summit or Jegs.

Alright well I decided to get the adapter for now. The adapter will only stay on there until I can find a intake and a carb to rebuild. Hopefully by then I will have the 64 registered so I wont have to go without a Olds for a little bit.
