The manafold is for use with a quadrajet BUt you can buy an adaptor to adapt the edelbrock carb to the e3711. The adaptor you need is quadrajet barrel size on one side and 4 even butterfly sizes on the other side. It allows the carb to be raised so the carb linkage does not hit the manafold. OR just buy a rebuilt Q/J for an oldsmobile and out that on and go.

I bought the 7111 mani for 2 reasons

to avoid this problem, and because I wanted to have a bit more power. The 3711 mani is the same as a plain old Olds mani, just a lot lighter

be aware of very limited hood clearances. I have an old performer and holley on my 71 and a drop base air cleaner was required

Has anybody ever tried using a marine carb to get the manifold clearance instead of the spacer? Or would that never work?

Quadrajets are great carburetors. They are also simple to rebuild. If you want to learn carburetors a quadrajet is a good place to start. I also like Edelbrock carbs. They are a bit more pricey than a rebuilt Quadrajet but they do look pretty sharp. There is nothing better than kicking in the secondaries of a Quadrajet though.

Cool

JUst an FYI. I was told by Edelbrock that the Edelbrock 1406 would not bolt on the 3711 because of the EGR. I did find out that edelbrock has corrected this by releasing the 2711 manifold that will work with edelbrock carbs. ($300 At Summit Racing). 2711 has no EGR provisions.I just got one today and will be slapping that sucker on next weekend.
