1964 olds cutlass body side trim
Hi Everyone --- I have 1964 olds cutlass 2dr holiday coupe ----- after 3 years I was able to secure one complete side of body trim got it out of Oregon if you can believe it. Anyway I'm looking for a recommendation to have these chrome prices restored they run from the trunk to the ft fender where it finished off with a chrome curved Eyebrow most of it is pretty good but there are some that are crushed slightly also my fear is trying to make the restorer understand the center/detent is painted flat black with chrome on top & bottom I know you'll know what I'm describing. I need someone who has a excellent track record with chrome trim. Please Guys id like to get this done in the next 3 months any ideas or suggestions?
P.S. these piece might be aluminum or some kind of like pot metal but I remember when the car was just bought they shined like chrome
Thanks

They are polished not chromed. Any good metal worker should be able to straighten them for you and then polish them up. Of course, you'll need to repaint the flat black. If the metal isn't badly banged up you can probably fix the damage yourself. I repaired my wheel well molding with a small hammer and dolly. Then I buffed it on the wheel and you would be hard pressed to find where the damage was. Just take your time and work it litle at a time.
