70s vs. 80s Sport Sideview Mirrors

My 71 has the single chrome sideview mirror. I am looking to add a passenger side mirror and was thinking about upgrading to painted sport mirrors. I have seen 80's cutlass sport mirrors listed locally. Are these same or similar to the 70's Cutlass mirrors or would these be improper and I should find 70s specific ones?

Some good info here.

The later 70’s and 80’s cutlass mirrors are not correct and will sit at an incorrect angle. The 70-81 Camaro/Firebird mirrors are the correct angle and size but they use a different base gasket which is available aftermarket.

Something else to double-check is whether the sport mirror base will cover (hide) both mtg holes used for your chrome mirrors in order to prevent a fill and repaint of door. Ran into this on '73-'77 Chevy "A" bodies.
