72 Cutlass Repro Bumpers

72 Cutlass Repro Bumpers
I'm about to buy a reproduction bumper for my 72 Cutlass. I see that Tamraz has a cheaper version and a "plated in USA" version. I also see that Dynacorn makes one. Has anyone compared these repro bumpers to see if one is any better than the others? I'd like to keep the cost down obviously but don't want to have some crappy piece that doesn't fit right or has cheapo looking chrome. What have you had success with?

Haven't seen anything from Dynacorn posted. But I did buy a Tamraz cutout and it wasn't cheap - 385.00 + shipping about 5 years ago. I have it installed on the car now and am very pleased with the fit and finish. I weighed the original OEM bumper and compared it to the Tamraz for weight and also metal thickness. Within an ounce of each other. The finishes are also comparable - full 10/10 IMO.

You'd be right on both counts. The OEM is in VG - Excellent condition - still silver on the back side. It's now wrapped and stored. Might sell it sometime. I've always wanted to put the dual cutout on the car so this was the time. Thanks for the kind words! The pics with the OEM bumper were prior to restoring the axle (also changeout to G80 carrier and 3.42:1 gears) brake lines, suspension, fuel tank etc. The cutout shows some of the changes. I also decided to create a 'mock' W27 differential housing by cleaning it up and painting it aluminum.

I have purchase both the cheaper version and the " Plated in the USA" I'm very pleased with both products. The bumpers that are plated in the usa are better quality than the others that are plated overseas. Either way they are both show quality

Just a follow up FYI to anyone else who views this thread...doing further research I found that Dynacorn only offers one 71-72 Cutlass bumper and it is without cut outs and has holes for the bumper guards. This is from Dynacorn's web site.

That sux. I have bumper guards I want to install but I have to drill into the new metal bumpers I installed to do it. Too bad none of the suppliers offer this feature in addition to the cutouts. Thx for the research!
