Hello all,

New to the site and picked up a 68 cutlass s holiday coupe. Most of the emblems are missing and the only ones I'm not sure of are what goes on the trunk on the passenger side? The cutlass script looks like it only has 3 studs to attach it, but my trunk has 4 holes. Is there something that goes in the fourth?

There should be four studs on the emblem. Use square barrel retainers in the square holes, then insert emblem. Do the three studs match up to three of those holes?

I haven't gotten the emblems yet, so can't check. Wanted to make sure i was getting the right thing before i purchased them.

I thought the "SS" emblem was mounted in the center!

Seriously though, is it possible you've got yourself a 4-4-2 trunk lid? Didn't the 4-4-2 emblem have four studs?

No clue. I'm trying to piece together what parts are original and what the car's story is. The VIN is a 68 but has 7a heads from a 72 but i haven't gotten a chance to check the engine casting numbers yet.

I saw there is a rocket and an s emblem for the trunk, does the rocket go in the middle and then the s in three 4th hope after the cutlass script?

Cutlass and 442 used the same piercings and trunk lid. The rocket is for 442. Cutlass "S" used an "S". Supreme used a "CS".

The first set of images (442) are NOS 1968 Olds trunk emblems (4 fastening posts). The second set of images (Cutlass) are 'reproduction' 1968 Olds trunk emblems (4 fastening posts). I have seen other 1968 Cutlass trunk emblems with three fastening posts; however, I don't believe they are correct reproductions. I haven't seen a NOS 1968 Olds 'Cutlass' trunk emblem (other than the one depicted as a 'reproduction'). I'd trust the reproduction (4 fastening posts) before I'd trust the other three post Cutlass emblems.

No. The "S" goes in the middle of the trunk lid on a 1968 Cutlass "S" trunk lid.

As Yellowstatue said, there are 4 studs. Below is a photo of my car just after being painted which shows the mounting holes.
