#1.. Its worth what someone else is willing to pay...#2.. Thats ALOT of work to put a 330 in the place of a 394 - are you positive this is a 330? Why would they put a 330 in place of a 394? Thats taking a couple steps backwards if you ask me. Whoever did this swap had to of made new engine mounts, transmission mounts, and a TON of modifications. Do me a favor and just count how many valve cover bolts there are.. # 3 Since when did Olds make a Jetfire? Do you mean Jetstar or Starfire?

You aren't providing enough information to make any judgements about the value of this car. You haven't even said if it's drivable. Posting some photos would be a start.

How do you know it's a 330?

Where are you located?

In my personal opinion as a big car enthusiast, I'd be less than enthused about a car like this with the wrong engine. Unless the car were absolutely pristine otherwise, I'd have a lot of reservations that it was all boogered-up under the surface.

Olds built 10042 Dynamic 88 convertibles in '64. They are neither terribly rare nor expensive today. You'll be way ahead money-wise if you hold out for a nice one.

I'm wondering if this car is a Jetstar 88 that has had a Dynamic front clip put on. Does the dash plate say Dynamic 88 or Jetstar 88?

1962-63 turbocharged Cutlass. Then in 64 marketing started calling 330 engines Jetfire.

Double check that engine. If it is a 330 then like some of the guys said, there were alot of modifications done to the car. However, this could be a good thing depending on what you want to do to the car. A 330 mounts the same way the later Oldsmobile engines do (350, 403, and 455). So, if you want to put a more modern engine and transmission into it half of the work is done.

If the engine has been changed you won't be able to show the car as an "original." You just need to decide what you want in a car. Personally, I would think a 330 would be better than a 394. I have a 394 in my 64 98 and I don't like it very much. I feel that the newer Olds engines are MUCH better.

okk

(Ok first of all sorry if I don't write really well but I'm italian) let me explain to u guys..... i signed a contract for this car... that's why i said it's mine... but the dealership manager filled out papers in the wrong way and we have to do it again!!! ...So the car is not mine yet... yesterday I found online a brochure about 1964 oldsmobile that says that the 1964 olds dynamic convertible came with the 394 260or 280 hp... at the dealership told me that is a 1964 dyn 88 with a 330 2 barrel... the engine is blue(can that help?)
the car is in working and running conditions(top, seats'radio, etc). not much rust and good interiors.
Now... i really do love this car.. but i wanna make sure i'm spending the right money for it.
thanks again

I don't know about Italian law and your situation specifically enough to be able to help but...If signing the contract means the car is legally yours now then just take delivery and start researching the car's history and drive it and enjoy it. If signing the contract means you can still change your mind then get the Vehicle Identification Number from the dash, the engine code from the engine and any other documentation that you can collect and post it here and we will try to help you decipher it all and then you can make a final decision based on that knowledge. The value of a vehicle is such a subjective item. And we might be making a great mistake stating a value based on our knowledge of the market here in the U.S. compared to the same vehicle's value over in the E.U. About the engines, I think that 1964 was the change-over year when the 394 and the 330 were both available in some models. I do have a reference at home that is fairly accurate, I will check it for you and post tonight.

Oh, sorry my mistake. I should have looked closer at your user name info. Anyway, if it is a 330 engine look on the front of the block just above the timing cover, you should see some number cast into the block on the horizontal surface. Navigate to the tech section using the grey tool bar above, then look to the 1964 - 1990 small block section. It will show you some information on identifying you engine and give you some good information. Good luck.

You need to get someone who knows Olds in your area to look at the car. A blue engine could be anything, but probably a late 350-403-455. Don't assume the car has any high value meanwhile. It is hard to get parts for them, and they aren't real popular, meaning they don't command much money. Starfires are the most likely to have enhanced value among the full size Olds of the first half of the 60s.
