Lifter choices

Concerned about brands, having heard issues with overseas lifters.
For this build I'll be going with my Engle 20/22 hyd. cam.
Don't want to spend a fortune but would rather spend more for a quality brand than take chances.
any thoughts are welcome.

I have heard the term hydrulic cam many times, what is a hydrulic cam I know what a Hydrulic lifter is I assume a cam that uses hydrulic lifters is refered to as a hydrulic cam, is this right?

A hydraulic cam typically has ramps that are compatible with a hydraulic style lifter. There are normally differences in solid vs. hydraulic ramp profiles. However some are cross compatible, depends on the manufacturer.

As far lifters go, any U.S. made lifter will do the trick. The Chinese stuff that was prevelant some time ago suffered from poor metalurgy and bodies that would distort upon lift causing the lifters to bleed down during operation.

I think Johnson is making lifters again, they're made in the US.
