This is a few days worth of sanding, cleaning, and painting on the rear end of the car. I am using rustoleum flat black enamel rattle can paint. I surprised myself with this decision, and the finish is actually quite nice.

While generally destroying the interior, I found the original 1968 Forrest County, Mississippi car tag. I treasure this find and will be restoring this tag to its original luster.

the car with tires... we had to slowly go around the car and break all the lugs free. then, jack up one corner at a time and remove the rusted wheels. 'new to me' used tires from a friend enabled me to pull the car from this location to a clearing where we could load it.

the cleaned interior... trust me when i say, it was bad. the original keys were under the floor mat on the driver's side. They were completed buried in what was left of the moldy carpet under the vinyl mat. The key ring had decintegrated but the keys shined right up.... they must obviously be made of something that does not rust.

proof of the grime... you can see the minor archeological dig completed with a flat screwdriver.... The oil/dirt mixture was on everything and had to be a half inch thick.
