15x8 with 4in backspacing

How will these wheels fit on a 71 Cutlass with stock wells? Was unable to find any helpful images or threads on chevelleforums or CO.

It depends on how wide the tires are. I think a 5 inch backspace would be better in centering the wheel in the wheelwell. You could always measure or make a fake wheel of sorts with cardboard to check fit.

Is the 4" backspacing going to pull the wheel in? Or push it out? Sorry, im not too savvy when it comes to wheel measurements.

The more backspacing on similar width wheels pushes the wheel inward so to speak. An 4 inch bs on a 8 inch rim puts the centerline in the middle. Little backspace creates a deep dish rim....

Really need a 10" wheel to look right in that tire. You need to measure on your own car but 10" with 5.5" BS is going to be close to what you need.

Actually, not quite. The wheel width is measured at the bead seating surfaces, inside-to-inside. Offset is relative to the width, so a zero offset would mean that the wheel mounting surface is centered.

Backspacing is measured from the inboard lip of the wheel to the wheel mounting surface. There is usually 1/4" to 1/2" of lip outboard of the wheel mounting surface. An 8" wheel with zero offset would have a backspacing of between 4.25" to 4.5", depending on the thickness of the lip.
