I tried searching and can't seem to find the answer. Just trying to figure out what the RPO code was for this style of 14" hubcap? P01, P02, PA1....? Thanks!

Those were the "wheel discs" on my parent's (and now my) '68 4-4-2 convertible when they bought it as a "new" demo in March 1969 (never privately owned before my parents). When my parents took the '68 for a "test drive", it had wire wheel covers (N95) on it which my parents didn't like so they had the dealership remove them. My parents just wanted the car with bare wheels as my dad had planned on putting chrome reverse wheels on it (which he later did). But the dealership wouldn't let the car leave without some sort of wheel cover so they put on the PO1s.

I later learned from a member of this forum, whose dad owned an Oldsmobile dealership and he worked for his dad in the shop for a period of time, that these "wheel discs" weren't very highly valued and that mechanics often used them as ash trays in the shop!

I still have those old PO1 "wheel discs". They were already used a bit when they got put on the car before it left the dealership so they don't look very new but they don't smell like cigarette ashes. I also purchased a set of original N95 wire wheel covers so I can show the car with them when I want to do it that way. However, in my opinion both make the car look like some old man owns it instead of a young, active man like me (almost 73). Accordingly, I dress my '68 most of the time with SSI wheels - it just looks so much better!

Thanks so much for the quick feedback gentlemen. These were the hubcaps that came on my '68 originally (purchased new by my dad's neighbor, so I've known where it's been all its life). I too used one as an ashtray in the garage years ago, and when I moved to my current home in '08 had them stored in my attic. Some years ago I donated them to someone on here who was looking for a set. Now that I'm retired, I anticipate attending a show or two and wanted to have an option sheet showing how the car was originally equipped w/ the prices for each option. This info seals that deal.
