Wheels and Tires Help
Hello Friends,
The set up on my car is 295/50/15 rear-215/60/15 front. I don't know anything other than that! I bought it from a guy a few years ago,This is my first olds. It is a 69 Cutlass S. I really love the set up but hate the air shocks, they leak anyways. But I love the beefy look. I was told by a body guy that once he completes the rear end back to the original I would no longer be able to run 295 in the rear. So I ran out with out hesitation and bought a brand new set of BFG radials 245/60/15 for the rear. I was told if I like the wide look the run 245 rear/235 front. I didn't know that I would also not be able to use the 10 inch rims for the new tires. So I found two old spare rims for the rear until I find some rimes that I like. I need help!! I don't know anything about back spacing, bolt circle or offset??? What is the correct rim size for the new set up. 245 rear/235 front??

I'm not sure what your body guy is talking about but a 69 Cutlass will swallow a set of 295's with no problem. From your picture it looks like the backspacing on those rims are way off. A typical 10 inch wheel has a 5 inch back spacing which should work no problem.
Your 245/235 will fit on a 7 inch rim without any problems. Not knowing what his plans are for your rear end kinda makes this a crap shoot.

The 245 60;s on the back and 235 60's would look good with the offset rims you have on the rear. I had the same set up on my 76 with air shocks. They were a pita leaking after sitting for the first winter, so I put in a set of vista cruiser wagon coils in the rear with monroe shocks. Sits up nice now. What are the plans for the rear end?
Actually, most older style 10" wheels had a backspacing of 3 3/8" to 3 5/8". Very rare to find one with more backspacing until centerlines and draglites etc. If your rear axle is standard factory width, you should be able to run 15x10's w/5.5" bs and 295-50's without any problem.

The guy does great body and paint work, so I was going to have him strip it down, and repaint the car. The previous owner of the vehicle, did one hell of a rig job to the fender wells, I thought it was so he could fit the 295's under there?? I will send a pic. Basically his plan is to go in and do some cutting and fabricating to bring it back to original. But if I could I would love to keep the 295's on the back without any issues or air shocks.
