Are wheels date coded?

With all the chatter I see on here about date codes, it made me wonder if wheels are date coded as well? I got these https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...es-happen.html when I bought my 72 Cutlass Supreme back in June, so if they are date coded, where would it be and what an I looking for? (Sorry about the shredded tire...that's another story)

Thanks,
Dave

Yes they have codes, one is by the fill valve, to see the other numbers you have to remove tire.

Wheels do have date codes on them. If you look on the rim and/or the part of the wheel that's covered when the tire is on it, there will be a symbol that has an M followed by a number and then another number underneath and between the M and the number next to it. That number underneath represents the calendar year in which the wheel was manufactured. For your '72, that number will be a 1 or a 2, meaning 1971 or 1972. As well, on both sides of the valve stem, there will be a number. Let's say, for example, the those numbers were "9 valve stem 25" and the "M" symbol looked like "M 4"
1 . The manufacture date of that wheel would be September 25, 1971.

For chrome rimmed wheels, it has been my experience that the date code is stamped into the back side on the rim, about where the valve stem is on the front side of the rim.

My experience with the all-chrome SSI wheels of 1966 & 1967 don't really show a date other than there might be a year indicator stamped into it. Olds wheels for model year '69 and newer, though, at least through the '72 model year, it has been my experience that they do have dates stamped into them.

Hopefully, this will be of help. Others will respond as well, I'm sure.
